Hi, I’m Amy – Counsellor and Founder of 

Rise & Shine Kids Coaching in Hervey Bay, QLD.

After losing a young family member to suicide in 2020 due to bullying, I felt a deep drive to create change. I left an industry I had comfortably worked in for 15 years and began studying, eventually becoming a qualified counsellor with training in youth mental health, yoga therapy, suicide intervention, and family violence. That experience continues to shape the prevention-focused work I do with children and families today.

At Rise & Shine Kids Coaching, I support children and young people to build emotional resilience, confidence, and practical coping skills - especially those navigating anxiety, bullying, school challenges, big emotions, or low self-esteem. A core focus of my work is emotional regulation, because when children learn how to understand and manage their feelings early, it can be a powerful form of prevention - reducing the risk of longer-term challenges such as mental health struggles, disengagement, or harmful behaviours.

I focus on understanding the nervous system and the “why” behind behaviour so children feel truly seen, safe, and supported - not just corrected.

I work collaboratively with parents, families, schools, and support networks to create practical, individualised strategies that strengthen connection at home and beyond. My goal is to help children feel safe, capable, and empowered - and to give families tools that support real change.
